Foundations of Short Form (Fiction)


Genre-expansive craft workshop. Leave your inner critic at the door. Come with a short story idea because we are diving into what makes a micro, vignette, flash, and short story. Workshop is designed for those who want a better understanding and structure around writing short form work with a focus on BIPOC writers and stories.

APRIL 9th, 04:30-06:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada) Session: breaking down short form structure of common western storytelling and global majority storytelling traditions, studying texts from K-Ming Chang, Daniel Heath Elder, and others. Scaffolding prompts and writing time.

April 16th, 04:30-06:30 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada) Session: check in with participants writing and practice, reviewing endings both common and traditional, writing time with scaffolding to get you to your ending.
